Duuuuuuuuuude!

So, like, I totally went to Disneyland last Saturday with mi Madre, ya know and we totally went and saw a show at like California Adventure which was entitled something like Interactive Crush Time er somethin' and I totally got to talk to my buddy, Crush. Ya know the totally tubular Sea Turtle from the totally-rockin movie, Finding Nemo? 'Cha. So, like the show was totally bomb and it, like totally made me realize that I talk like a surfer and/or like Valley girl, like ALL the time! Dude, it was so gnar. Anyways...I like spent the rest of the weekend totally wishin' I was whalin' all over the ocean catchin' some sweet waves instead of stuck in bogus Temecula, which is LAME and totally inland, so I was like, crap, what can I do about this sitch? And then I was like, DUDE, you live like 40 minutes away from the Pacific, babe. Get in your vehicle and DRIVE out there, duh. So, ya know. I didn't, but I had a totally wicked time enjoying the idea that I could be there in such a short time, but I decided it would be fairly righteous to spend Sunday at church, ya know? So, I went and fetchin' loved it! So awesome, Dude. I love California. It's, like, made me totally smarter and more "in-tune" with my inner dudette. Peace, love, and happiness, dude. It's all good.

Dog Prodigy

So today I had to leave Oakley, (who is a cocker spaniel/german shepherd mix, I know weird, huh?), inside my apartment because the dork figured out a way to get out from my porch area...dummy...So anyways, I decided to let him stay inside today while I was gone. This has been a problem in the past because he tends to get scared and chew up expensive things like computer power cables and leather boots, but I did it anyway. My mom told me to try leaving the TV on while I was gone so it sounds like there's someone here and he doesn't get scared. I turned the TV to PBS and left for my spinning class. When I got home, however, Oakley had successfully found every stuffed animal I own along with every one of his toys and pulled them into the living room. Surrounded by his "friends", I found Oakley sitting contentedly (sp?) on my lovesac enjoying Barney the Dinosaur singing a song about Beethoven. Not only was my mother's plan absolutely GENIUS, but my dog will also be performing Beethoven's 9th Symphony at the next Temecula City Orchestra Concert. We are all very excited...

I'm a Big Kid Now!

What does it mean to be an adult? I've been thinking about this lately and I've come to the conclusion that being and/or acting like an adult means that you can never have fun again...Let me know what you think.

"Kendall likes to..."

Haha, I love that Abbie is my inspiration for about 90% of my blog postings. I read her "Abbie likes to..." post and wanted to see what came up for me. Here are a few of my favorites.

Kendall likes to hang out with pals in her leisure times and she gets really pumped up over taking vacation trips. She calls her mom her main role model. -This is soooooo true! I love my friends and I think I'm gone just about every weekend on some sort of vacation. I literally had 4 people introduce themselves to me at church this weekend because I've been gone for so long! (oops!). My Mom is my hero, of course she's my main role model!!!

Kendall likes to fly fish on the weekends, enjoys eating at good restaurants, and going to the movies. -Fishing, not so much. I'm terrified of dead fish. (Weird, yes, I know.) I do love good food and good movies, though.

Kendall likes to play with her subject matter and this book shows no shortage of exciting and experimental poems. -I haven't written a book, but I do secretly write poetry. (I guess that's not a secret anymore).

Kendall likes to be involved with the development of a program from the beginning and design a visual style that will help carry the message. -I like to think that I am a creative person and love to be involved in everything!

Kendall likes to get any work stress out through sports. -Amen. Anyone who knows me knows this is SO TRUE!

Kendall likes to sit down at the piano and compose wordless songs. - I will steal my mom's grand piano someday. I really miss playing on a real piano. My little keyboard just doesn't cut it.

Kendall likes to swim, but when she goes onto her back she puts her legs in the air for some reason. - Hahahahahaha! This was my favorite one by far. Maybe this is why I had to wait so long to break a minute in the 100 back?

Kendall likes to wear my glasses, and on rare occasions I let her. -This reminded me of when I was little I used to steal my aunt's glasses because I thought I looked pretty with them on. I couldn't see anything, but I looked cool!

Kendall likes to think globally. -As I've grown older, I'm realizing that the world isn't as big as I originally thought. We're all in this thing together!

Kendall likes to read in bed. -I've been known to stay up ALL night reading a good book. I love to read and hate to put it down when I'm dying to know what happens next.

Kendall likes to run, and it seems that she is always on the run. This young woman spends much of her time in sports related activities. -Duh.

Kendall likes to be miss independent! -Duh number 2! SoCal. No roommates. BOMB.

Hello BlogWorld! I know it's been a while, so I thought I'd catch up a little. I'm still down in SoCal loving the fact that I'm in one of the only places in the country that's warm right now. I am loving my job and my puppy and my ward. Things have been pretty good. I am really missing my family in Utah and all my best friends there, too. I'm so grateful to have the gospel though. Having a ward family down here has really blessed my life. I have a testimony of the Gospel of Jesus Christ and am so glad to know that I belong to the true church here on this earth. I'm loving that I am getting the chance to start over in a new place, it's been such a learning experience and I know I'm being tested beyond anything I've ever known, but I know its so worth it! I want everyone to know how much I love you and miss you!!!

Another Reason Why I'm Proud to be a Ute!

Not only did the University of Utah have an amazing Football season, (12-0, and playing in the Sugar Bowl on Jan 2nd), but they have established a scholarship honoring not only a great former football player, but a true disciple of the Lord and one of the best men I have ever met, Joseph B. Wirthlin. Below is the article I found on the athletics website.

U. Athletics Establishes Joseph B. Wirthlin Scholarship

Dec. 18, 2008
SALT LAKE CITY - The University of Utah athletics department plans to establish an endowed scholarship in the name of Elder Joseph B. Wirthlin, a former Utah football player and a staunch supporter of the program for many years.
Initial contributors to the program include current Ute football coach Kyle Whittingham and former Ute football coach Urban Meyer. The Elder Joseph B. Wirthlin Family Scholarship, which will benefit the Utah football program, is being established with the support of the Wirthlin family, the University of Utah and the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
The Utah football team will honor Wirthlin's memory by wearing a decal bearing the initials JBW on its helmets in the Sugar Bowl.
"Elder Wirthlin was a close personal friend to me and my family," said Whittingham. "I learned a great deal from him over the years. He will be missed by all of us associated with Utah football, including our fans. I'm thankful to the Wirthlin family for helping us establish this scholarship in his memory. I hope Ute fans around the country will join Coach Meyer and me in fully funding this scholarship. It is a great tribute to a great person."
For more information, or to make a contribution, contact the Utah athletics department at 801-585-8837.

I had the priviledge of meeting Elder Wirthlin and shaking his hand while actually on the U of U football field a few years ago. What a kind, talented, loving man! I love him and will miss him, but am so grateful that he recieved this honor. Go Utes!
